Kieran Richardson started his career with his local
football team, West Ham United but Manchester United snapped him up.
He came to Old Trafford as a 14 year old to be
educated in Manchester
Richardson led the England
U16 team to the Milk Cup final in 2001 but they
lost to Paraguay. He was also named 'Player of the Tournament' at this European
Youth Cup.
In the
2002/03 pre-season he was impressive and scored in a friendly at Chesterfield.
His Man United bow came a week later in a UNICEF charity
game against Boca Juniors.
Richardson made his United debut as a
substitute in the 3-2 win at Olympiakos in
the Champions League in October 2002.
Scored his first ever goal in a Worthington Cup win over Leicester City.
Alex Ferguson has said that Kieran is one of the best
youngsters to come out of the Manchester United academy in recent
years.
